Remicade is classified as a tumor necrosis factor-inhibitor and helps stop inflammation and joint damage. Infusions of Remicade can reduce signs and symptoms, help prevent further joint damage, and improve physical function for patients with moderately to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Remicade is given by intravenous infusion in our offices. If you are prescribed Remicade, after your first three doses, you will most likely return for about 6 infusions per year. Each infusion takes up to 2 hours.
Orencia is used to reduce inflammatory symptoms such as swelling, pain and stiffness. In the long term, it is expected to stop joint deformities to maintain range of motion.
If you are prescribed Orencia, after your first three doses, you will come to the office for an intravenous infusion every 4 weeks. Each infusion takes 30 minutes.
Rituxan is used to treat adult patients who have moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. Rituxan reduces signs and symptoms of inflammation and can slow progression of joint and bone damage
If you are prescribed Rituxan, you will come to the office for intravenous infusions at a frequency determined by your doctor based on your diagnosis.
Actemra is a biologic medication approved to treat adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid, adults with giant cell arteritis, and people ages 2 and above with polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis or systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Tocilizumab blocks the inflammatory protein IL-6, which improves joint pain and swelling from arthritis and other symptoms caused by inflammation.
If you are prescribed Actemra, you’ll receive an intravenous infusion given over 1 hour every 4 weeks.
Cimzia is a medicine used to treat adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. By blocking tumor necrosis factor-alpha, CIMZIA helps reduce the inflammation, stiffness and joint damage Rheumatoid Arthritis causes. Cimzia® is also used to treat Psoiatic Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondilitis.
If you are prescribed Cimzia, you’ll come to our offices to receive an injection under the skin. After your first 3 doses, you’ll need a new injection every 4 weeks.
Simponi Aria is used for adults with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. By blocking tumor necrosis factor-alpha, Simponi Aria helps reduce the inflammation, stiffness and joint damage Rheumatoid Arthritis causes. Simponi Aria is also used to treat Psoiatic Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondilitis.
If you are prescribed Simponi Aria, you will come to our offices to receive an infusion. After two starter doses, 4 weeks apart, you will return for an infusion once every 8 weeks. Each infusion takes about 30 minutes.
Benlysta is an immunosuppressant drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of lupus and lupus nephritis in children and adults. Benlysta is used in combination with other lupus drugs such as hydroxychloroquine and steroids. Benlysta treats people with mild or moderate lupus affecting the blood, skin, joints, and kidneys. It works against a protein that triggers certain cells in the immune system to attack different parts of the body.
If you are prescribed Benlysta, you will come to the office for an intravenous infusion given over 1 hour every 4 weeks. Preparation time before the infusion may vary. For the first three infusions, you’ll need an infusion every two weeks. After the first three, you’ll come in every 4 weeks for an infusion.
Saphnelo was approved by the FDA in 2021 for the treatment of adult patients with moderate or severe systemic lupus erythematosus. Currently, Saphnelo is not approved for treating lupus affecting the kidneys or lupus affecting the central nervous system. Saphnelo may be used in combination with other drugs, such as hydroxychloroquine and glucocorticoids. It works by blocking molecules that can trigger the immune system to attack different parts of the body.
If you are prescribed Saphnelo, you will come to the office for an intravenous infusion. The infusions last for 30 minutes and have to be repeated every four weeks.
Prolia is a biologic medication used to treat fragile bones, also known as osteoporosis, and prevent bone fractures. As a biologic drug, it is human-made and closely resembles naturally occurring antibodies in the body. In this case, it stops a molecule, called RANKL, which normally causes bone metabolism. By blocking RANKL, it helps to build and strengthen bones.
If you are prescribed Prolia, you will come to the office to receive a shot of the drug once every 6 months.
Reclast helps to increase bone density, protecting and strengthening your bones.
If you are prescribed Reclast, you will come to our office to receive one dose through intravenous infusion treatment once a year. The infusion takes at least 15 minutes to administer.
Krystexxa is a protein that is designed to treat severe chronic gout. The protein breaks down uric acid into a substance that the body can excrete. Pegloticase is indicated in patients in whom despite treatment with other medications (such as allopurinol, febuoxostat, probenecid, and other interventions) have failed to achieve the serum uric acid target, who continue to have frequent gout flares (≥2 flares/year) or who have non-resolving subcutaneous tophi.
If you are prescribed Krystexxa, the infusion lasts at least two hours and is given every two weeks. Treatment can result in gout flares, particularly upon initiation due to rapid lowering of urate concentrations. Using other medications for gout prophylaxsis is recommended.
